Four Things To Do Before The Movers Arrive

Unplug Everything
From phone chargers to the refrigerator, your home is likely filled with electronics and appliances you'll use right until the movers arrive. Take a few minutes to make sure all of your gadgets are unplugged and ready for the move. Use zip ties to prevent power cords from becoming tangled, and set aside a plastic storage container to quickly pack away smaller electronic items. The container can hold phone and computer chargers, your alarm clock, and even your coffee maker. Load this container onto the moving truck toward the end of the move so it will be one of the first items that your movers take off of the truck when they arrive at your new home. This will give you easy access to all those essential items right away.
Protect Your Floors
Before the movers arrive, take some time to protect the flooring in your home. This will help you recover your security deposit in an apartment, and it can also keep a house ready for the new owners. If you have old area rugs you are thinking about throwing away, place them in halls and the entryway to your home on moving day. They can be thrown away after the move, and they'll prevent scratches, scuffs, and stains as the movers work their way through all of your boxes and furnishings. Post Inventory Lists

Be sure to make a copy of each sheet, and place the second copy in the corresponding rooms in your new home. Have Someone At Home
